What should you do if you are not sure you’re pleasing God?
To answer that question I’d like to share with you why I’m sure I’m pleasing God.
Worship is pleasing to God
It’s important to note that God’s principle desire for all humanity is that we worship Him. That’s the central theme of the Bible.
Worshipping God is synonymous with pleasing Him. Here’s 3 ways to worship God and please Him:
1. Pleasing God by Loving God & Loving Others
God actually tells us how to please Him in the great commandment.
Matthew 22: 37 Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”
We should love God and Love others. By the way, that’s also how we get purpose.
2. Pleasing God by Obeying Christ’s Commands
If Jesus tells us to love him and love others then we most certainly need to obey these commands. That’s my mission. To help you obey Christ’s commands.
Look what 1stJohn 5:2-4 says,
By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep His commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome. For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world; our faith.
In an article from God.net called Worship Through Obedience we read,
Worship is expressing love to God. The first way that we express love to God is through our obedience to Him, this proves that we love Him, and that we trust Him. Faith pleases God, faith is trust, and faith is love. If you know God well enough to love Him then you trust Him and you will obey Him, because you know He has your best interest in mind what ever He ask you to do. Everything that God asks us to do is a way we can express love to Him. Expressing God’s love to others is also expressing love to Him. Obedience is expressing love to God, which is why His commandments are not burdensome to us.
So how can you be sure you are pleasing God?
You can be sure you’re pleasing God because you’re obeying His commands.
3. Pleasing God by Going, Making , & Teaching Disciples
I’d like to add one more command Jesus gives us….
If we love God and love others we will share our faith in God with people all over the World by teaching them everything God has commanded us.
I got that command from Matthew 28:19,
19 Go therefore[c] and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.
So the answer to pleasing God is obeying his commands, sharing our faith, and teaching others to obey His commands.
Read Hebrews 13:16 (ESV)
16 Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.
How Can I Help You Please God?
As a foreign missionary the main problem I solve is that of helping you obey Christ’s commands by going into all the world, making disciples and teaching how to worship God
