How To Train leaders and missionaries for Church multiplication
Remember, you are a guide, a facilitator, not the hero….
Look for and work through Persons of Peace. People who have influence among People groups
Provide leadership without ownership and control. Train leaders who train leaders. Equip and empower national leaders to do the work since they will do it better than you. Let go as soon as possible. “I can do it, not America can do it for me.” This change in mentality is one of the biggest issues we have to face. Real friendship relationships are much more effective than foreigner vs national ministry
“Mentoring” and “Spiritual fathering” are not only Biblical (II Tim 2:2), but effective DMD Methods. Mentor spiritual sons and/or daughters on the condition that he/she takes what he learns and mentors or trains at least one other person
Implement DMM in Helps Ministries by Helping without Hurting – Some will be called to help the poor, since it’s the heart of Jesus. Appropriate humanitarian aid results when we avoid the North American mistake of applying relief in situations in which rehabilitation or development is the appropriate intervention. Avoid Paternalism. “Do not do things for people that they can do for themselves.” (from When Helping Hurts book).
Rethink “buildings/properties” mentality – Many Christian churches are slaves to buildings since they are financed and most of Church budgets go towards paying that debt. Many underdeveloped and even modern nations have no large protestant ¨church/temple¨ structures. This could be considered an advantage since house-to-house movements and disciples-multiplying-disciples is the most effective way to quickly reach the lost.
Use Technology and modern media to reach the lost (concentrate on the younger generation)
Communicate the Gospel through storytelling.
Keep it simple and rely on the Holy Spirit for guidance. These concepts are not a plan in a box. Be flexible as you apply these principles to your particular people group, culture or ministry.
