True fulfillment is found in helping others know and follow Jesus.
Great Commission
The Great Commission is Christ’s call for every believer to make disciples of all nations.. It has shaped our lives, our ministry, and our passion for reaching people with the Gospel.
While the phrase “Great Commission” is not directly found in Scripture, it has become a common way to describe Christ’s final command to His followers before ascending into heaven.
For many years, this mission has guided our family’s ministry among the unreached—helping people come to Christ, equipping believers, and multiplying disciples who make disciples.
I used to refer to the great commission as ” Our mission”
At God on Mission.com we often refer to it simply as God’s mission—because God is reconciling the world to Himself through Jesus Christ, and He invites us to be part of it.
No matter how it’s labeled, the Great Commission is not merely a suggestion—it is Christ’s mission for His Church and It is a command that we should obey . It’s God’s Heart for The Nations as seen in this video:
Watch this short video from Got Questions about the great commission.
The Great Commission – Matthew 28:16-20
“Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, to the mountain which Jesus had appointed for them. When they saw Him, they worshiped Him; but some doubted.
And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.
Christ’s command is clear: we are called to make disciples of all nations. The central command in this passage is not merely to “go,” but to make disciples.
Going, baptizing, and teaching are essential parts of that mission—but disciple-making remains the focus.
And alongside this command comes a powerful promise: “I am with you always.”
The 3 Commands of Christ
There are 3 Steps to obeying the great commission.
“If you love Me, keep My commandments.” (John 14:15)
A follower of Christ loves the Lord with all their heart, soul, mind, and strength (Matthew 22:36–40). Our relationship with God is the foundation of everything we do.
2. Love Others
When we truly love others, we care about where they will spend eternity. Loving our neighbor means sharing the hope, forgiveness, and reconciliation found in Jesus Christ.
3. Make Disciples as Christ’s Ambassador
Jesus calls us not only to believe in Him, but to help others follow Him as well.
As ambassadors for Christ (2 Corinthians 5:20), we are called to help others follow Jesus and grow as His disciples. This has been at the heart of our ministry for many years—sharing the Gospel, training leaders, and helping believers multiply their faith in others.
Let’s obey Christ’s’ mandate Together
Since we’re both interested in the Great Commission, may I ask you the following question…
“How do you think the Church is doing at fulfilling Christ’s mission to make disciples?”
“How do you personally see your role in God’s mission?”
“What do you believe are the greatest obstacles keeping believers from fully engaging in the Great Commission?”
“How have you seen God reward or bless you for your work in missions?
I’m sure God has used you and we really appreciate what you’ve done to fulfill God’s mandate to preach the Gospel to the ends of the earth but could you possibly do more?
How can we help you fulfill the great commission?
And how are they to preach unless they are sent?
Romans 10:14-15
Would you consider co-laboring with us through prayer and financial partnership as we help bring the Gospel to unreached people and equip believers to make disciples?
Together, we can make an eternal impact through lives transformed, disciples multiplied, and the Gospel carried to places where Christ is not yet known”
