Your story is important. We all have a unique testimony about what God has done in our lives.
Sharing your faith can be a before-and-after format if your story features a dramatic turn-around, or simply an account of what difference it makes in your life to be a child of God.
God chose you to guide the lost to Christ. In part 3 from our disciple making manual, “How To Make Disciples” I shared 3 reasons why you are Gods most qualified disciple maker.
Now I want to share how you can use “Your Story” to begin to guide lost people to Christ. The proper use of your personal testimony is one of the best ways I know to make disciples.
I’ve put together an extended PDF Book called The 3 Step Method I Use To “Share My Story” with Everyone I Meet
How To Share your story
Even though you have a unique testimony you should be able to tell your personal story in just 3 minutes. When you share your story be sure to speak the other person’s language, be careful not to use church language or clichés.
Here’s an easy method for beginning the process of sharing your 3 minute story by simply dividing it into 3 parts:
1. What was my life like before I met Christ?
What were your priorities? How did you act? Did you have peace?
Don’t make your life before becoming a Christian glorify satan by giving a lot of graphic details.
2. What were the circumstances that led me to meet Christ?
How Did I give Christ complete control of my life?
What began to change in my life and attitudes? What were my struggles and reactions while in this life changing process?
3. What is my life like now that I know Christ?
Give specific ways your life is different now.
Examples of personal testimonies
Paul’s testimony
- His life before (Acts 22:1-5) Paul describes what he thought and did before he became a believer.
- How (Acts 22:6-11) Paul explained how he became a believer.
- After (Acts 22:12-21) Paul describes how becoming a believer changed his life.

Now write out your story
Take a sheet of paper and write out 3 paragraphs. What your life was like before Christ, how you gave Him complete control and what your life is like now.
Write the way you speak; make the testimony yours.
Share your story
God has chosen you to guide the lost to Christ. Practice sharing your story with someone you know now.
Who should you share your testimony with?
Remember in my article entitled who to reach you made a list of 100 people you relate to and started praying over that list. Now ask the Holy Spirit to help open the doors for you to share your story with the 5 people you chose from that list .
Now that you have your story ready, let’s look at how you can begin to fulfill God’s main purpose
