This week we ministered in the parks, markets, hospitals, orphanages and streets sharing the Good News of Christ, healing the sick, and meeting needs.
I also flew into the USA to assist in training up new Globe International missionary candidates. I’ll be here all next week, then return to Mexico to be with my family and continue to train, send, and serve as we make disciples for Christ and send out Mexican missionaries.
What should you do if you have a need that you want God to meet?
The answer is, “Give it away”
I’m sure you’ve heard of the power of reciprocity. It’s defined as the practice of exchanging things with others for mutual benefit.
The Biblical principle here is called “sowing and reaping”
The parable of the sower (Luke 8) teaches that whatever you plant, you will reap! Therefore, sow good seeds. Sow the Word of God.
Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers. Galatians 6: 7-10
So whatever you need, sow it (give it away) then reap the harvest.
Let me add one more piece of advice…
“Don’t give something away just to receive something in return. Give because you Love God and you care about people”-Ed
So here’s what to do if you have a need:
- Need money? Give money to God (tithes and offerings) and to the poor.
- Need love? Love somebody
- Need health? Pray for the sick.
That’s exactly what I’ve been doing.
It was late July, 2016 when I fell off a cliff and fractured my back. Now, months have passed and I’m still recuperating.
Yesterday I visited the Doctor to discuss my back pain.
Do you know what he told me?
He said to just deal with it and pray for the sick.
I replied,
“Hey that’s exactly what God told me to do.”
You see, most people get sick and then go into a pity party and begin to complain. Don’t dare ask them how they are because you may get a long story about all their problems.
Are you sick?
Many people don’t care how sick you are because they either haven’t experienced a sickness themselves or they are too busy thinking about their own problems.
God used my injury to help me have just a little more compassion for hurting people. I still don’t want to hear a long story about their problem but now I ask what their problem is and then pray for them. Not a long prayer, just a simple prayer of faith. I expect God to heal them when I pray for them.
I also want to confess to you something for which I had to repent of; I had to experience an injury just to become obedient to do what God says in his Word,
And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand. Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out demons: freely ye received, freely give. Matthew 10:7-8
Jesus told us that we have freely received so we should give freely.
No matter what our problems are, there is always someone who has worse problems than us. Especially people who may die and go to hell if we don’t tell them about Christ.
I understand that you are concerned about your need. I am too. But I am even more concerned about people who have never experienced the joy of worshipping Christ.
They need a new everlasting life. As Christ-followers we possess a precious gift that lost people need. May we all begin to sow life and make a difference in the World today.
If you really want something, give it away to others.
P.S. Are you sick? Let me know in Facebook comments (below) or contact me and I’ll pray a powerful and effective prayer of faith for you.
